One of the owners passed recently so the other owner is doing what they can. Right now they will take to go orders. Go to the side door and they will help. Think it may take a couple of weeks to sort things out.

Best Thai food I've ever had. I tried Thai food for the first time here and went back home to Raleigh/Cary and had lots of good Thai food. But this food has been the best I've had yet. I like how the Pad Kee Mao gives you all 3 types of meet (beef pork chicken) and not just one like some restaurants do.
We recently relocated from Northern New Jersey, and were spoiled by Pimaan Restaurant, in Emerson. My daughter wanted Thai food for her birthday, as usual, and Thai By The Sea did NOT disappoint! EVERYTHING was amazing! The dinner, and the Coconut cake for her birthday! Absolutely delicious! This will be our new FAVORITE Restaurant!!!
I was told food would take 45 minutes. It took 1.5 hours. After arriving for pickup at 45 minutes, I was not given realistic updates by staff. "Just a little longer," was commonly repeated. And she kept taking orders despite me and multiple other people waiting for their food. Understaffed and poor order management.
Amazing Thai food! We ordered take out from this Thai restaurant, and it was authentic and delicious. The flavors in the food were amazing and it was cooked fresh, to order. The owner was nice and worked as quickly as she could. On this evening, she was only accepting take out orders (must not have had the staff to open the restaurant). We later learned the woman owner has been through a personal tragedy and is trying to keep the restaurant going with the overwhelming orders (due to how good the food is). So, if you want some great Thai food, either be patient or order early in the evening. We ordered pad thais with chicken, sweet and sour chicken (it's not breaded), and chicken fried rice. We made quick work of the food, it was SO GOOD! Highly recommended and plan to eat there twice this week.
A very good Thai restaurant that we are blessed to have on Oak Island. They don't have a lot of employees, but service is good and wait is usually not long. Good has always been delicious and it is reasonably priced for lunch or dinner! The sampler platter is a good one to order. Nice variety for two people. All meals are excellent. Coconut cake on the board for dessert is very good. A quiet inside environment, not often found. Casual dress.Great place to eat everytime!
I had the tofu and Thia fried rice - It was outstanding. Reasonably priced and very good service.
Good food and filling but service was slow and very understaffed the owner/waiter was super smiley and weird it is noisy in here if only two people I can't imagine if it was full bc it would be sooo crowded. I asked for the banana ice cream and they didn't have it and that was a problem. The only reason I'mGiving it 3 stars is bc my fools liked it.
The food is awesome and the price is fair. The only issue is closes at 8 so get there early
Amazing thia food that compares to the best thia food I have had around the world.
An absolute hidden gem. This is me and my wife's favorite place on Oak Island. The chef, Gai, has been preparing authentic Thai cuisine here for almost two decades. The prices are reasonable and portions appropriate, not supersized. But, it's the quality that sets them apart. We always order, and I recommend, one of the curry dishes. But, the homemade coconut cake is fantastic.
Great food every time. Highly recommended.
Quiet and low-key. We visited in the off season. Fried rice was on point and pad Thai was delicious. Portions were not large, but reasonable. Was so nice to find this as our favorite Thai restaurant in Ohio had recently closed and this was very similar. One of our favorite meals while on holiday.
This little gem on Oak Island has some of the best pad Thai we have had in a while. My wife and I got a plate of both chicken pad Thai and shrimp pad Thai. The flavor was great and the service was good also. Both plates had stir fried cabbage in them which was a pleasant surprise and not something you often find in pad Thai but we very much enjoyed.I have heard the lady runs this place by herself sometimes and as a former restaurant worker, I understand how hard it can be to work alone at times and keep up with everything. Please don’t be turned off by the bad reviews. Some of the other reviews complained about how they were treated but we had a great experience, my assumption would be she was just busy and being to the point and it caught them the wrong way. I look forward to going back and trying some other dishes here next time we are in the area!
Some of the best tasting thai we have had!
OUTSTANDING food & service! It was our 2nd visit & there will definitely be a 3rd!
Absolute best Thai food I have ever had, and I have had a lot of Thai food. - Staff were very friendly and attentive, without being intrusive. - If you like spicy food ask for the chicken basil “Thai hot”. It is amazing. - Highly recommend! - PS...The coconut cake is awesome.
